In December 2012 Deploy Subsea were requested by ER Schiffart of Hamburg Germany to mobilise to Port Hedland to carry out welding repair work to one of its' iron ore carriers, the ER Bavaria. Upon arrival at the vessel at anchorage, our team were directed to the flooded engine room where a small hole was located in the Main Engine Cooling Jacket. This had been caused by cavitation and it was quickly determined that a blanking plate was required to be installed by Divers over the external cooling water intake on the hull. Once the plate was installed the welder/diver team went into the engine room to carry out the repair of the internal piping. After a long shift of internal and subsea welding, the vessel was deemed seaworthy by the Surveyor and was able to come alongside to be loaded.
