From November 2011 to March 2012 DEPLOY Subsea undertook the decommissioning of Point Sampson steel Wharf on behalf of Transfield Services and the Department of Transport.  This project involved all stages from methodology to completion. The work was carried out from the Global Constructor, a 46mtr construction barge utilising a 30t excavator on deck. The scope included the removal of all piles to bed rock in a 6mtr tidal range. Bed rock was located using the excavator and then divers cut the 610mm piles using the B3 Hydrogen Torch and a specially designed cutting ‘jig’. Detailed progress reports were submitted to the Client, informing them of lengths of pile sections that were removed to verify that cut length had been achieved.
