In July 2013, DEPLOY Subsea was commissioned by Applus RTD and Rio Tinto Alcan Gove to mobilise a 5 person inspection dive crew and all equipment to Gove in the Northern Territory. A detailed subsea inspection of the RTA Gove Export Wharf was required to provide the Client with information about the structure’s subsea integrity. The Export Wharf delivers high grade Bauxite and Aluminium to bulk carriers bound for various global destinations. The scope initially involved Level I to III subsea inspections, including Close Visual Inspection, Ultrasonic Thickness Testing of selected 900mm OD steel raker piles, as well as CP testing using a Roxby Bathycorrometer Gauge in conjunction with Applus RTD’s renowned INCOTEST inspection system. The scope developed into a full inspection of all RTA maritime facilities in the area. Detailed Risk Management and Emergency Response Plans were developed with input from all sides due to the extremely hostile environment.
