PEER Inspection Station Pier Melbourne

In June 2015 Port of Melbourne Corporation requested Deploy Subsea to carry out underwater inspections of timber piles supporting Station Pier using the PEER System. The inspection was organised to provide clarification to PoMC of the integrity of the system and was conducted on several timber piles which had been earmarked for removal and further analysis. The work was carried out from a trailer mounted dive spread located on Station Pier. The inspection diver used a combination of hand tools and visual and ultrasonic inspection to locate suspect areas on each pile. Once the areas were marked and the piles were removed, PoMC carried out destructive testing to analyse the suspect areas to successfully prove the integrity of the system.
